Request
Skyhall's request was both clear and complex: ‘Develop a single mobile audiovisual set that can be used for a wide range of basic events without limiting the flexibility or architectural character of the venue.’ The set had to offer organisers a solid foundation, while also being versatile enough to support different scenarios: from a classic presentation with a large LED screen to two LED screens with a stage in between. The LED wall had to be able to be flown on hoists as well as stand on the floor on the upper floor.
The biggest challenge was finding a balance between functionality, modularity and efficiency. The system should not limit events, but also not be so complex that expansions required a lot of extra material or manpower. The installation therefore had to be quickly scalable, so that additions such as an extra microphone or display were possible without new technical configuration.
Operational efficiency
Operational efficiency also played a major role. Skyhall wanted to offer the set at a competitive price, which meant that assembly and dismantling had to be particularly smooth and error-free. To make this possible, we developed custom-designed control sets with intuitive connection points, enabling both technicians and external teams to work quickly and accurately. In addition, special transport trolleys were built in which each component is stored safely, logically and by material type. This not only simplifies logistics and protects the equipment, but also makes it possible to get a complete set up and running in a short time with a smaller crew.
Our role at the start of the project combined technical conceptual thinking and practical design. We analysed possible event scenarios, developed a flexible technical concept and translated that into an ergonomic, scalable and visually unobtrusive system that fits perfectly within the architectural identity of Skyhall.
Approach
In order to arrive at a solution that was both technically sound and operationally efficient, Blue Moon opted for a multidisciplinary approach. We deliberately put together a diverse team that combined expertise in permanent audiovisual installations with the practical experience of our event project managers and technical project leaders. This mix enabled us to approach the project from both a structural-technical and a live event context, essential for a set that has to function in a variety of scenarios.
A first important step was to conduct a thorough evaluation of previous events at Skyhall. By analysing which formats were frequently used, which technical questions customers asked and which setups worked best, we gained a good understanding of the expectations and the bottlenecks. These insights formed the basis for further technical and operational choices.
Technical quality
Our team took various criteria into account during the design and selection process. The technical quality of the equipment remained a top priority, as did compatibility with existing rental equipment in our stock or additional equipment from partners. Delivery times and operational reliability were also taken into account, so that Skyhall can be assured of a stable and effective set in the long term. Furthermore, each device was only selected after obtaining a complete technical file, including manuals, safety regulations and fire safety certificates.
To make our choices clear and concrete to the customer, we developed extensive 3D renders in which the entire set was precisely detailed and visualised. These renders helped us and Skyhall to detect any optimisations at an early stage and provided a perfect, realistic picture of what the setup would look like during events. This sped up the decision-making process and ensured that expectations were fully aligned from the outset.
Result
Throughout the entire process, Blue Moon focused on clear, structured communication. We explained each step transparently, so that the customer always knew where the project stood and what choices were available. Even after delivery, we followed up on optimisations openly and systematically, which ensured a smooth process and mutual trust.
The mobile installation has now been used successfully on several occasions, with positive responses from both Skyhall and end customers. The set is appreciated for its sleek look, ease of use and flexibility. It can be placed in various locations within Skyhall, making it a strong addition to the existing range.
Internally, our project managers at Blue Moon can now start from a clear, reliable basic set instead of starting from scratch every time. This speeds up decisions, provides clarity for customers more quickly and allows more room for targeted creativity in the design phase.
we strengthen your message
As the icing on the cake, our video and content team was also able to create a marketing video in which the Skyhall contacts themselves explain the set. That video is now being used to present the basic set clearly and convincingly to end customers.
