Our road to sustainability

Safety as a standard

VCA, our first pillar. BLUE MOON is consciously committed to a safe working environment. Our employees are VCA VOL certified (VCA = Safety, Health and Environment Checklist for Contractors), and our company acquired VCA* certification in 2014. But we don’t do it for the certificates and diplomas. At BLUE MOON, working safely is not an option; it’s a standard. It makes us strong as a team.
Sustainable entrepreneurship

At BLUE MOON, we have always considered sustainability important. How do people, the environment and the economy interact? And how can we reduce our ecological footprint? We want to respond to this in specific terms as a company. So, to give this topic extra weight, we formulated various objectives within our company’s activities. We do this based on the VOKA Charter voor Duurzaam Ondernemen.The list includes things like committing to electric vehicles, a comprehensive cycling plan, phasing out disposable batteries, replacing fluorescent lighting with LED bulbs, installing a water filter instead of offering water in plastic bottles, and so on. Achieving these specific milestones, each of which is evaluated by an evaluation committee, also allowed us to gain certification.
Social entrepreneurship

BLUE MOON wants to be a reliable partner for people who inspire us. That’s why we help associations and initiatives that are dear to us every year. For example, we structurally support the non-profit association BIJS, which creates a home for children with mental and motor disabilities. We have also sponsored a meerkat at the Antwerpen Zoo for several years. In doing so, we contribute to the mission of the Antwerp Zoo and the scientific research centre for wildlife. We also sponsor specific youth and sports clubs in the vicinity of our company, such as Royal Victory Hockey Club, 11^de scoutsgroep Prins van Luik, 14^descoutsgroep Albert I, Herakles Hockey Club, voetbalclub Olvac, Antwerp Rugbyclub,etc., every year.

Gaining knowledge is the key to development. And isn’t development one of our core values? Yes it is! Cross-pollination between employees, from young to old, veteran to newbie, and across teams, ensures a continuous flow of shared knowledge.
